Finally, a bird that I have been trying to get a photo for sometime and not on a gray day, is a Norther Skrike. The Northern Shrike breeds in tundra and winters in southern Canada and the northern United States. It feeds on small birds, mammals, and insects, sometimes impaling them on spines or barbed wire fences. Nice little bird, not to have in my backyard!
We did have a Great Horned Owl in our yard the other night, but it was to dark to get a photo of it. This is what they look like, thanks to All About Birds for the photo.
