The Water Is Open

The ice went out on some of the ponds this weekend and the ducks were everywhere. There seems to be a duck jam around here, as they have come just this far north and have stopped. But, with some warm air around, I don't think they will hanging out for long.

And This Is April?

And this is April? it snowed 10" here this week and there is more snow in the forecast. When will it stop? I now that I have flowers under all that snow, just waiting to come up. I went back in to the files and looked for photos that where taken the week of April 15, just to compare. Now I am really depressed.

Oh, It's a Merlin

Oh, it's a Merlin! look at that! Will I am sure that's not what the little birds are saying in the yard, since Merlin's like to eat little birds.

 

Bob and Betty showed up again for the fourth year in a row and since the we have the only open water in the area, these two spend most of the day floating in the warm water of the bird pond.

This Eastern Phoebe, is looking cold like most of us this Spring.

Thief

I moved my peanut feed from one area of the yard to another, thinking it was the mice that where taking all the peanuts at night. Then the other night I see something fly past the window and I see the peanut feeder moving. Sure enough, it's the flying squirrel that is taking all the peanut, not the mice. We know we have flying squirrels, but most of the time you don't get to take a photo of them. This must be a brazen peanut thief and think that it is above the law if the lights or my camera.
