The WCHA hockey tournament weekend, is three days of some of the best college hockey you will find anywhere. But this weekend was kind of bitter sweet, this was going to the last time that the WCHA final five was to be held. As the WCHA is being dissolved and the teams are either going to the Big Ten or NCHA. What made this weekend so bitter, was that our hockey family that we have come to know for the the past 12 years, is being split apart. Some will go to Big Ten and some to the NCHA. Not a big thing you say, well tell that to all the tears and hugs that where shared at the end of the night after Saturday nights game. This is a group of friends, that only see each other once a year for three days, but it feels like we just saw each other last weekend. We cheer for each others team (Badgers, Gopher and Sioux) and support them when they win or lose. Kim and I will go the way of the Big Ten next year, our family will be smaller but I have a feeling that it will growing and that we will see those that have decided to go with the NCHA at a later time.

And what would the WCHA weekend be without Korey, Phil and Jon.
Were did you find your second cousin? I found one of mine in a parking lot tailgating at the tournament! For the past 10 years, they have always parking in the same lot as us, tailgated and we have even said hello to each other. Then on Saturday, I see a guy with Narve on the back of a hockey jersey. No could that be a relative? I introduced myself and sure enough, are Grandfathers brothers and we only live about 10 miles from each other.
To the Narveson's on my side of the family, meet Sean Narveson.
