Cold Monday

It's -14 below, you have the day off what do you do.  You go outside and see what else is out and about. The morning started out, with a little treat. A Hoary Redpoll, this little guy is about 3" in length and when it's cold looks like a flying golf ball. We just don't see them very often and this one was in the backyard. Then it was off to the river, to find some open water. This Common Merganser didn't mind the -14, but as you can see. The Trumpeter Swans, decided to tuck under and stay warm.

Pond Hockey Time

It's was that time again, for the 2013 US Pond Hockey Championship Games. This year the weather was great, until the last games when the wind was gusting to 55mph and then the temp dropped from 39 to 20 in less then one hour. 

 

 

 

 

 

Sunday and the Swans

With all the cloudy weather we have had, I thought it would be a good time to see how many swans have found some open water which is in short supply around here this winter. As you can see the swans are enjoying the open water while it last.
