Summer Started!

Summer is here and the work continues on the back yard. This week one of the flag stone walk was completed and some of the stone for the water fall was installed. If the weather holds, more stone will be placed and work on the brick patio will start.
Hey, who's behind the cool shades? The infamous Chris and Krista from the great state of Iowa, with Kim at this years car show. This was a first in seven years of going to the show that it rained! but only for about 45 min. Other then that the weather was perfect.
Each year we pick a car part to photograph. This year it was headlights. But with 14,000 car to look at, this one made it to the blog. Posted by Picasa

In the Ground

It may not be Niagara Falls! but we are in the ground. The five steps for the water fall and the catch basin are in. With a sudden down burst of 3" of rain Friday night we where able to see what it will look like when it's done. However, it looked more like the Missippissi rive with all the mud! Now we are waiting for the liner and rock.

One retaining wall done and three more to go. This wall is under the deck on the east side of the house. Now if I can only get the cable company to move their orange cable.

It's not all work, at our house. Today Kim and I went downtown to the Stone Arch Bridge Art Festival and car show. This car show is just a warm up to next weekends car show at the MN State Fair ground. If you love cars, this is the one to be at. Last year 14,000 hot rods where on display for Kim to dream about. Nice Fall Weekend

Well the first round of contractors came in this week to move the electircal meter from its current location. The meter is being moved for any future addtions to the back yard. "This is my hint to Kim that I want a hot tub"

As you can see, the next round of jam and jelly is being created. This weekend it is Apricot. So two down and eighteen more to come! Plus, Kim is working on a beer sourdough bread and lime cookies. Kind of like a gin and tonic in a cookie.

I wonder if I can get my back yard to look like this? Time will tell.  Posted by Picasa

It's Started!

The offical start of the Jam and Jelly canning season started this weekend for the fairs. The first one in the jars is Strawberry. With one down and at least a dozen more to come, you know what Kim will be doing in the kitchen on the weekends. But the real question is, will Kim beat last years record of 20 different Jam and Jellies?
Now if you read the Christmas new, you know I was banned from doing any indoor projects this year! But I was never told I could not do an outside project. So keep watch for updates.

So far it just been moving over 100 hostas and tons of stone and stepping stone. The heavy equipment comes in 10 days, so does more stone, brick and water.
