You Don't see what I See

Look at X1, look to the left of X1. That's what Kim told me to do and tucked next to light fixture X1 was a Redtailed Hawk. What the hawk is sitting on is a 60 foot light pole at an interchange in Edina MN. What a view it must have.
Spring keeps getting closer, today I mowed the yard for the first time. Not that grass needed mowing, but the mower sucked all the leaves and winter junk up. Now tonight they are forecasting 4-6" of snow this week. Oh well, that's life in Minnesota.

WCHA Final Five

This is something that you don't see at a hockey game, Kim sleeping. Well it was the Minnesota Gophers playing. Now the next photo, that's what you can expect of Kim to be doing. Nothing like tailgating in a warm spring day. So, with three days of hockey and five game under are butt's. The University of Duluth Bulldogs came from the bottom and won the tournament. The first time anyone has won all three games. And no, hockey season is not over yet for us. We still have the Frozen four in DC and the Wild to contend with.

Spring is here, the leaf blowers are going in the area and I spent the day working in the yard getting the stream ready. Now if only the ice would melt, the water would be flowing.

Oh, and for the record, Kim has started practicing for the fairs. Less the 90 days for the first one.

Not again!

The Goshawk is back again, but what does he keep looking for? squirrel maybe so. Either way, he is kind of cool to watch and the way he can fly through the trees. The little Redpoll thought it could fly through the glass, but Kim held it for sometime and back to life it came. Nothing like some TLC before that long trip back to the Arctic. Spring is in the air here. The ice is melting and and our trucks are dirty. This week the WCHA Frozen Five starts in St. Paul. Three days of hockey and a lot of tailgating.

Goshawk?

If looks could kill, this Northern Goshawk would be at the top of the list. The Goshawk landed in our back yard at sunset and as I grabbed the camera it gave me this killer look. This is not a small hawk, it is on average about 24" in length. You never know who will show up in our yard.

Below, is a Pileated Woodpecker. This is the largest of the woodpeckers North America. About the size of a crow. If you look closely at the second photo, you can see it's tongue as it gets a bug from the tree. You don't see that everyday.

Nap

One thing that I have found, is that birds love to nap. There are somewhat like us. Find a nice sunny spot on a cold winter day, close your eyes and you are out! The next time you are out, take a look in that sunny spot, you might find someone taking a nap.
