Love Hate

I have a love hate relationship with this time of your. First the hate. The ice is starting to melt on the lakes, the yard is either still frozen or to wet to work in. Now the love. It's only a few months until the Fair season starts and the house smells so good. With the outside actives on hold, the inside projects have started as you can see by the photo's below. Stay tuned for updates on this project.

Trip South

This was the Winter that Kim and I would head south for a long weekend, to escape the grips of Winter in Minnesota. So we headed to Iowa! That's right, Iowa. I never said how far south we where going. But we had a good time. Effigy Mounds National Park, Pikes Peaks State Park, then follow the Mississippi river south to Dubuque. Three nights in Dubuque that's even harder to believe then going to Iowa. But we had a great time. There is a lot of history in the area and thing to see. Since we where so close to Galena IL why not, swing in. Since the weather was great and the pools are closed at the motel, we headed to Rock Island IL. The Arsenal was much more then we expected, you need to see it if you are ever in the area. I will let the photo's tell the story of the trip.

Lost

What was that, that just when by the window? There it is again, only this time this gray bird landed on the Chinese Lantern by the pond and not a camera to be found! You know that feeling, when you need something you grab the first item that looks like what you are looking for. Great the first camera I grab doesn't have a memory card in it, where's the other camera. This one has the wrong lens on it, but it has a memory card and power. When I get back, the bird is gone. Wait for it and wait some more and then it came back.

This gray bird is a Townsend's Solitaire and it must be lost or all the west winds this winter have blown it east. As you can see, this bird should not even be close to Minnesota. What next is going to come through the yard this year.

Thing you see

Sometimes when I walk the river or one of the wildlife refuge you see things and just make you pause to wonder why or how did that get there?

This Winter they placed signs at the entrances to the all the wildlife refuges. I will let you make your our thoughts on this one.
Then there was this ball and this chair, that is a good 30' in the air. How did they get there?
Or this chair, just waiting for Summer and how did it get there?
So take a look around, my might find these item like this and make you pause.
