Just some photos from the week

A little night light.
What was I thinking?
In four weeks, you never knew it happened. It sure is nice to be back to normal.
Number 20 is in the jar!!!! Sweet bread and butter pickles.

Now the baking starts and I don't even know who many items are going to the fair. 15, 20 who knows. Posted by Picasa

Oh so close!

We are so close to being done! Now it is just time for the all the detail work to start. All the stone has been placed, the mulch is down, the grass seed is coming up. It is now time to transplant all the hosta that needed to removed for the project.
One area that is new, is the pathway in the front of the house. Since all the equipment had to come around this way, it made since to use the path that it created.
The MAD CANNER is still hard at it! 16 down and 4 to go!

Hospital Garden Contest

Fairview Southdale Hospital had a garden contest this summer. Kim and some of co-workers at the Breast Center entered the contest and won 1st place! Woo Hoo! Kim's job was to make the sign. She of course had help from Ted. Kim did the rubber stamping and Ted did the copper work. What a team. The theme of the garden was the Earth Angels, because so many of our patients tell us we are there to help them through a difficult time.

The gardners of the group used petunias to make a heart and alyssium to make wings. Simple yet effective. The judges liked the heart because our flowers were full and over flowing!

Next comes the pumkin contest in the fall......can we win there also? Stay tuned!

The Final Push

We have entered into the the most difficulte stage of the project. The final 10% still need to be done! We are so close, but not quite there yet. If the weather holds and all the planets line up just right we should be done next week. That would make this a five week project. And who said Rome was not build in a day?
Some have asked how big is this project, well here is what I can tell you;
The patio is 26'X26' or 626 sq ft.
The waterfall is 30' long
The amount of rock used to date on the waterfall is 12 ton! and I can tell you where everyone of those rocks are.
And yes the water does recirculate in the waterfall at 4,000 gallons an hour.

More next week as we are getting close!

Part 2 You had to go how DEEP

Were's the water? That is a good questions. This week is fine tuning week of the water fall so we should have it going by next weekend. Trust me it does look cool.
The patio is 80% completed and the sand area that you see is all that needs to be completed.
Who said it would be cooler in the woods? Posted by Picasa

Part 1 You had to go how DEEP

Okay, I should know by now that you never know what you are going to find when you start digging! No sooner did they get the top soil off, when the front end of the Bobcat sinks! We had our very own woodland bog and did not even know it. After digging out an are 12'X12' and 6' deep, we findly said enough. Lets fill it back in with stone and hope for the best. The pile of earth or bog is part of what came out.

Just when every thing is growing great, I have tank tracks in my yard. Posted by Picasa
