Happy New Year!

We hope that everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year! The past week has been filed with visits for friends, some shopping for deals and most of all just getting ready for 2008. If 2008 is anything like 2007 it should be a great year.

Smile you two.

On The Ice!

Can you believe it, for the second year in a row the ice fishing season has started before Christmas. So how much do we have? Eight inches, that is twice the amount that we had last year at this time.

So for the next two weeks, I will be spending time in quite solitude in my little green ice fishing hut. Nothing could be better!

This Blue Gill was fun, along with the rest of his buddies today.

Ever come eye to eye with a Northern? This was the view from my underwater video camera. And no, I did not catch him. He was more interested in the camera then my lure.

That Time of Year

It's that time of year. The blue door has been decorated and lit. The spruce tips have replaced the flowers and the Christmas party season is in full swing. Last weeks party at our home was delayed from Saturday until Sunday, due to the snow storm. The group was small (about 20) but it was still fun. This past weekend was Kim's work party. You can follow the link to photo's of the event at

As you can see winter is here and it looks to stay. The temp has not gotten above 25 degrees in almost three weeks. Most of the lakes are solid now, so it is only time before ice fishing season starts.

Black and White Christmas

Even a Cardinal was having a bad hair day, as this one did during last weekends snow storm.

Now on to the Black and White Chrismas. And yes it is true, that this year the house is decorated in black and white. At first we thought it was going to be hard to do, but the more we looked around, the more items we found and the more we liked the idea.

And yes, it looks like winter is here to stay. The snow keeps and the lake have ice!

What the?

Okay, I know that at times it looks like we are obsessed by what we cook on the egg. But this was to good not to take a photo of. I will let you fill in the blanks.

It was a sad day here last Friday, as I rode the Harley for the last time of you season. The sun was out, the temp was above 32 degrees and off I went. Now only five months to wait until the next time.

Well the preparations are in the works for decorating the house for Christmas. On the next posting, there should be photos.

Until then, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

No Photos!

Sorry those of you that check up on our Blog the last week or so. But for some reason, the photos come and go. I am going to have to work on this problem.

The first signs of winter have come. The first snow flakes, sleet and the ponds have some scum ice on them in the morning.

Soon, ice fishing will start!

Halloween Fun at the Breast Center

We decided to have a little fun at the Breast Center on Halloween. Why not! All work and no play makes for some grumpy staff!

This is Dr. McKeon and her little monkey, Calvin.

Arlene and Katie, I am sure they are both
naughty angels!

Miss Kathi, Kim and Myria, sorta normal?

Not all work

This has been the year of airports, rental cars and hotels. However, I have had time to take some side trips. On a recent trip to Portland OR I visited the Japanese gardens. They are said to be one of the best and oldest in the country. I did take away several ideas for our back yard. Now if I can only get Kim to go along with them.

Alaska 2007

We made it back again from an other fun trip from Alaska. Since I don't have time to talk about everything we did, I will just do highlight.

We watch Mountain Goats walk were no one should be able to.
A Grizzly bear eating berry's high in a open mountain hillside.
Pink Salmon making their way up stream.
Birds from the Arctic Tundra making their way south for the winter.
Black bear cubs, being cubs in the marsh grass.
Walking on beaches and looking in tidal pools for sea life.
Watching whales in a channel as the tide came in.
Listening to the groan of the glaciers move.
Getting off the main roads.
Eating in places, you know your mother would not approve of.

But most of all, vacationing in Alaska was all about understanding why we love it some much.

Look Who's Back

Look who found someone her own size! Nellie.

Yes, Nellie was back for a long weekend of being soiled by us. Sorry Doc for the bad habbits we tought her. But, as are nieces and nephews know, what happens in our house stays in our house.

The Narveson Blog will be down for maintenance for the next two weeks. Look for an update October 7.

The Doors

.
Okay, as most of you know, we have a blue door in our back yard. And like most of the items in the yard, as Kim puts it "its a Ted thing" This past week I was in Marquette MI and came across these doors. There had to be a hundered or more.

Kind of cool if you like doors.
