Minnesota State Fair

It is hard to believe that the Minnesota State Fair is here! So what does this mean to Kim and I.
It means that one or both of us have competed in three county fairs to perfect or so we think our entries for the state fair. No more sun rise Saturday morning runs to the Farmers Market to get the freshest fruit for canning . No more bread baking on Sunday or baking at all, that is until Christmas.

So what has all of this gotten us this year? Well here are the number of ribbons;

Ted
1st 6
2nd 3
3rd 1
Best of all 1st 2
Champion 2
Total 14

Oh ya, I won the best Nuts(Honey Baked) in the state of Minnesota competition, Kim came in 2nd. Sorry about that.

Kim
1st 55
2nd 18
3rd 8
4th 4
5th 2
Best of all 1st 9
Champion 13
Reserve Champion 5
Total 114

This is what the State Fair means to us. In the end it is all worth it.

Bonsai

Believe it or not, not everything that I do in the yard requires moving large stones or digging a hole.

A couple of years ago, my friend Don introduced me to Bonsai. Kim thinks this is the perfect hobby for me, since I have the patience of a saint, who else do you know that can sit for hours on the ice looking down a hole waiting for a fish.

To see more of my Bonsais go the Picasa link at the left.

Now on to the fair news. All entries have been brought to the Minnesota State Fair grounds and now the wait begins. More news next week.

Anoka County Fair

Sorry I missed that last two weekly posting, but we have been either getting ready for a fair or going to a fair. I know that, that is no excuse for not keeping everyone updated on what is going.

This is what we have been up to. The Anoka County Fair was the second fair this season and we are at the halfway mark. Not having the ribbon list handy I do know that Kim won, twelve ribbons and two champion ribbons. I won two ribbons, but then again I only entered two items.

So what's next. The Carver County Fair starts this week, this is the test run for the Minnesota State Fair and give us a good indication of how Kim will do there.
