Coyotes

As Kim and I walked down a trail not to far from are house, I noticed a fresh hole in the side of the hill. Thinking that I maybe a Badger, we hung around for awhile. Then one head popped out, then two and in total eight Coyotes came out of the whole. The pups played like all kids would do when the parents are not at home. Play hard, look around to see if anyone watching and then go back to playing. The parents never did show up, but I am sure that one was close by. I guess it could have been a Bear, they have been moving into the metro area. A Black Bear was killed by the DNR about three miles from my office two weeks ago. And who says there is no wild life in the city.

Enjoy the week.

Just Add Water

Just add water, that's what all the books say to get bird in your yard. Since rain seems to be avoiding us this spring, our back yard is the place to be. From Turkeys to Humming birds, they come in a singles or as flocks. Kind of like a wayside on the bird highway.

Fly by weekend

Not much new here, Global warming still has not kicked in here. It was 34 degrees Sunday morning, but the sun was out! the grass is green and the hostas are coming up, some I have forgotten that I planted. Oh and the person that planted the hosta in my ornamental grass bed, thanks, who ever you are.

This Goldfinch is starting early on nesting
New to us was this Blackburnian Warbler
This Nashville Warbler must have needed his ears cleaned out.
These two Cedar Waxwings spent a lot of time on the log making eyes.

What's Growing

So what's growing in your back yard? Thought I would take the week off from posting photo's of birds. I walked did a little walking around the backyard and these are just four of the eight wild flowers that have come up so far this spring. Now if I can just keep from pulling the rest of them up thinking that they are weeds.

May 3

Let's see how good at identifying birds. These two are from our back yard, if you think you know what they are, leave a comment and next week I will let you know. To date we are at 43 different kinds of bird that have visited our yard or the ones we have seen.

The yard is looking like spring with the hosta's and ferns coming up, the stream in flowing and the grass in getting green. Kim is testing new bread recipes for the fairs and can only be a matter of time before the canning of jams and jelly start.
