What about Bob

What about Bob? Bob is a Purple Finch with a white head. Bob showed up last winter, left for the far northern Canada last summer and has returned to us this winter. I thought that there was more then one Bob, but looking at last years photos, it the same bird.

So what's new with us? not much, but that's a good thing. We spend the week working and the weekends walking our favorite trails. Or spending so quite time on the ice looking down a hole waiting for the fish.

Enjoy the week.

Peanut Lovers

Since Blue Jays, have not heard the news about peanuts they keep coming in. A little treat that we put out each weekend, is handfulls of peanuts in the platform feeder. And as if you rang the dinner bell, the Jays are in taking peanuts one at a time. Off they go and stash them way for an other day. They are like squirrels of the bird world.

This week we had a taste of spring, but it was only a tease 46 degrees, rain. Now we have ICE. Need snow to cover this ice. We are tired of walking like Penguins.

Couples

Since this is Valentine's week, I though it only fitting to show some couples and the ones they love or for that season.

This most be true love to sleep on the ice.
The Eagle on the right, landed next to it's mate and for ten minutes it made more noise and posturing then I have seen, since the last time I came home late on the Harley. But in the end they sat next to each other and all was good. We have all been there.
I know, we should have gone south this winter.
A mothers love for her son.

Just Look Around

Sometimes I just wonder, how much do we miss as we go through the day. This past Friday, both of us had the day off so we headed down the road along the Mississippi River just to see who was around. Well we found eighteen different kinds of birds from Chickadees to Eagles. But, can you believe we found an Eastern Blue Bird, not just one but four. (sorry about the poor quality of the photo) This Red-Tailed Hawk, just sitting soaking up the sun watching us go on are way. Or this Redpoll that comes from the Arctic to warm up in Minnesota. So the next time you are out and about, take a look around, put the cell phone down and see who's around you or above you. You might just be surprised who is visiting your area of the world.

Stay warm.
